Full Page Gospel is a non-profit ministry partnership among like-minded evangelical Christians to place beautifully designed, high literary quality, full-page presentations of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, written by some of the the church's most highly respected Christian authors, in newspapers around the world.
Evangelistic authors already involved in writing Full Page Gospel presentations include Randy Alcorn of Eternal Perspectives Ministries and Dr. John Piper of Desiring God Ministries. The works of additional Christian authors are being commissioned and new evangelistic support teams of local churches and Christian businesses are being assembled. We welcome your help in publishing the Gospel to the world.
Our Concern
In the Book of Acts we see that the Gospel was proclaimed "publicly" as well as from "house to house" (Acts 20:20). It has been a common mistake throughout church history to assume that the preaching of the Gospel in regular church services, inside church buildings, somehow fulfills the meaning of "public proclamation" as modeled in the New Testament. On the contrary, church services are actually a continuation of the "house to house" ministry of God's word. Our church buildings may be larger than their houses, but they are none the less still houses. Public ministry tends to be set aside as the church becomes established in a new culture.
This is a problem because only "public" proclamation confronts the majority of people in the community with the good news. Such people are seldom looking for the Gospel. Those who most need to hear about Jesus Christ are unlikely to be found in an evangelical church service, no matter how "seeker sensitive" it may attempt to be. But in the Book of Acts we see God graciously breaking into the lives of the lost through the public proclamation of the news concerning Jesus Christ's life, death and resurrection. People from all walks of life would come into contact with a clear and thorough presentation of the Gospel during the normal course of their daily routines, without having to go looking for it.
Historically, whenever the Gospel has been presented in this way by a gifted evangelist, as was the case during the Great Awakening in the United States and in Great Britain under the preaching of George Whitefield, there has been a substantial harvest of new converts to Christianity. Public proclamation can be very effective. Unfortunately, far more of the evangelical church's efforts and financial resources go into the "house to house" aspect of ministry, than ever go into public ministry. Where ministers are speaking primarily to those who already know and believe the Gospel, we call it "preaching to the choir." Full Page Gospel intends to ammend this situation by providing a practical, affordable way to routinely proclaim the Gospel to the public at large.
Through Full Page Gospel like-minded Christians from all kinds of evangelical churches can enter into a "limited partnership" to simply present the Gospel clearly and thoroughly to their community.
Our Strategy
Full Page Gospel proclaims the Gospel in the public arena by placing biblically sound, doctrinally thorough, artistically engaging, high literary quality presentations of the person and work of Jesus Christ in the newspapers. This is where a majority of readers are not yet Christians— where the Gospel is still news to them — good news! In each article we challenge readers to trust in the goodness and mercy of God, repent of their sins, place their trust in what Jesus Christ accomplished for them by dying on the cross and be transformed and transferred by means of the new birth into the eternal family of God.
To do this we commission widely respected Christian authors who have a proven gift in communicating the Gospel effectively to the lost to write a presentation of the Gospel. Each article is then typeset and illustrated by a professional graphic artist with a view toward appealing to the widest possible readership. The costs of purchasing a full page of advertising space in the targeted newspaper are borne by our growing number of "limited partners" in this ministry. Individual Christians, Christian businesses, evangelistic ministries and local churches share alike to sustain an on-going presentation to the community outside Christ's Church.
Responses to each Full Page Gospel article are referred directly to the sponsoring local churches in that local community. In addition a Full Page Gospel web site, managed by Noble Institute answers some of the most common questions concerning Christianity and provides links to our sponsoring churches, businesses and ministry organizations.
The most far-reaching impact of each Full Page Gospel article is the way it sets the stage for thousands of Christians in the community to initiate evangelistic conversations with their unsaved neighbors and co-workers. By asking if others have read the article, and if so, what they think about it, many who might never otherwise hear the Gospel can do so and be saved. This was a major aspect the Great Awakening — Christians were inspired by the public preachers to speak up concerning their faith in Jesus!
